Not much has been happening in the sewing room  over the past few weeks as hubs and I have made the decision to "downsize"  from our family home of 45 years to an apartment in an  over 55's village.    We have been thinking on and off of moving over the past 2 years and we finally took the plunge and put our house on the market after we saw what we hope will be easy independent living for us both.

So the past couple weeks has been us both culling, sorting and packing.     One seems to accumulate a "lot of stuff"  and when going through it you do have to ask yourself "why did I keep this?"    Many trips later to the tip and the Salvos  - with a few more to go - has seen a lot of it moved and the spare room is lined with packed boxes of things that we will not need - hopefully - before we move which should be in about 6 weeks time.

I have left my sewing machine unpacked for the moment and did manage in between packing boxes and signing contracts to get blocks 7, 8 and 9 of the HST quilt sewn together.

This only leaves 3 more blocks to go.

Thanks Wendy for hosting another fun FNSI.

  1. One of these days we will make a move like that, I wish I could get my parents to do the same, but they love their current home. At least my sister plans to move in with them when she retires. Will feel better when that happens.

  2. It’s amazing how much stuff we keep as it might be useful and then promptly forget about it.
Good luck with the rest of your packing.

  5. Sounds like a good move, all the best with it. It's something to think about as we get older, the thought of sorting out my"stuff" is rather daunting.

  6. Best wishes for your move! Most of us are in that boat of too much accumulation. It's always good to lighten up.

  9. Love your blocks. Good luck with your big move. I don't know how we would downsize. Hubby and I both need hobby rooms and bedrooms. At least you will have any home maintainance on hand and people to keep an eye on the place if you go away. Enjoy.

  11. Some more greet HST blocks. How exciting, and I guess a bit scary, to be embarking on this next stage of your life. Once all the hard work and stress has passed you should have plenty of time for stitching. I hope you have a nice designated stitching area.

  12. Congratulations on taking the plunge. 45 years is a lot of time to accumulate "stuff" so I don't envy you on the culling & packing. Hubby & I are right behind you! Lol! Nice job on your HSTs blocks. They're lovely!
