FNSI

Time to get myself out of "move mode",   back into the sewing room and pick up where I left off  with the HST challenge quilt that I was working on with my Tuesday quilt group before our move.    9 squares were completed  which left three to finish before the next step of joining them together.  The various pieces for each block had been cut which enabled me to get them sewn up when I made an early start yesterday morning.  Blocks 10,11,12 are all finished and can be seen below.

Next step is to cut the sashing which goes between each block.   I have chosen this spotty grey and white fabric.

Hubs and I have been in our new home for 1 month.   All the boxes are unpacked, new furniture is  delivered and in place.    We are certainly enjoying our new lifestyle and have met quite a few of our neighbours.   There are some lovely walks around the property and one of my favourites is to head down to the waterfall

Time to go on over to Wendy's blog and catch up with the others who were crafting away last night.

Scrap Bag Challenge

The ladies at my Saturday quilting group have been given a challenge - fill a plastic bag 15" x 10" with your unwanted scraps bring it to quilting, place it in a box then we blindly take out another bag.    I was lucky enough to pick out a bag containing out these fabrics.

Whilst there is not enough fabric to make a quilt they are reasonably good sized pieces - smaller than a fat quarter but bigger than a fat 1/8".   The three pieces at the bottom of the photo are not as big as the other pieces but maybe they could be used somewhere so they will not end up in the scrap basket just yet.

Now what to make - it can be anything from a pincushion to???????  We have until our July meeting when show and tell will be held.

All set to go

It has been 4 weeks since my sewing machine has had any exercise even though it has been sitting patiently on its new table for 2 weeks now waiting for me to finish off unpacking boxes - all have now been emptied except for those which contain the contents for a display cabinet that was ordered during the week but will not be here for approx 5 weeks...those boxes are now out of sight in the second bedroom cupboard.

I was so looking forward to last night when joining Cheryll and the other crafters for  FNWF.    At last I could it down and sew which I did until I discovered the everything else was in place except for the power cord for my sewing machine......WHAT I said to myself - all boxes for the craft room have been unpacked and disposed of so where is the cord.    Getting up from my chair and looking in all the obvious places with no luck it was time to head downstairs into our storage area as I knew there was a box down there marked "extension cords etc" .   No luck there either - then I spotted my sewing trolley - it must be in there I said to myself....no again.    Now where to look ????

Back into the sewing room again for another look at what I had looked at before with the exception that I did not take out the foot pedal for the overlocker and there it was neatly packed with that.

The missing cord is now where it should be.

By this time I had lost all motivation to  sew so I sat down,  had a piece of chocolate and watched tv instead.    I hope that everyone else who joined in with FNWF did better than I did last night.

Further to my last post and the question that I asked re whether I could access my blog when it was set up under my previous service provider the answer to the question is that all seems to be OK so far.    I am able to access, comment and post so thank you to all those who offered advice.

I need to get my head around where I was up to with the challenge quilt that I was working before the move and hopefully now that I am returning to my two quilting groups this week that I can get back into the grove again.
