My OMG for Oct

Was to get 3 more items ticked off the to list and I am pleased to say that this was achieved.

Those three items were

Tablerunners and table toppers

Glasses cases

Heat packs

I zoomed ahead and finished off

3 Reading cushions

3 pear shaped pot holders

And the last item on the list was a smallish bag for little girls.

The list now looks like this.

I am very pleased to see all those DONEs.    That completes my to do list well in time for the Christmas market stall.

Thanks Anne-Marie for organising us again this month.

Planes, trains and automobiles.......

But in my case on Monday it was a matter of buses, ferries, light rail, trains and a walk to get to this street and why this street you ask........

Because of this

This is one of the best streets in Sydney to see jacaranda trees in all their glory and it certainly did not disappoint.

I decided to continue playing tourist in my own town and walked back up the hill and down the other side towards Milsons Point wharf to catch the ferry back across the harbour.

Even though I live on the north side of the harbour bridge and have to cross it to get into the City it was a novelty to be under  it on the  northern side looking back to the opera house and city skyline.

After my day out time to head on home and organise some dinner.    Pizza was on the menu and I always make my own - that way I get to choose exactly what I want and how much of what I want.  My favourite is pumpkin, mushroom, feta cheese,  green Sicilian olives  and when taken out of the oven a handful of roquette sprinkled over the top.

Don 't you just hate it when.......

You have spent the last 2 or more hours watching a movie or sometime reading a book and the ending leaves you hanging.....what did happen????????

That is what happened to me last night.   I have been reading this book for the past week

And there was only about 40 pages remaining to be read which I was determined to do last night before turning the light off and going to bed as I needed to know if the main character returned to the man that she left 15 years ago due to circumstances beyond her control and had never stopped loving or stayed with the man that she had built a life with over the past 15 years.    On reaching the last page  my eyes skimmed to the last sentence.

"I open my mouth, and I answer"

WHAT - what sort of ending is that.

Now I will be wondering forever what her decision was.

FNSI

Hubs and I went out for lunch yesterday and I ordered one of my favourite meals

So fortunately for me my kitchen was closed here last night and an early start was made on FNSI which allowed me to reach one of my goals of filling with rice and sew up the 3 heat packs that have been sitting around the sewing room as a tube only for sometime.  They are all tied up and come with instructions on how to use them.   I do not want someone burning themselves and then telling me that they did not know how to use them.     They now look like this.

Another item ticked  off the "to do list".  That now leaves 3 more to go - namely reading cushions, pot holders and a smallish bag for little girls.

3 more beanies have been completed.

My current read is.

Don't forget to pop on over here to see what others got up to last night in the sewing room.

2 Fat Quarter Challenge

A 2 fat quarter challenge was issued by our quilt group's co-ordinator - make anything you like using only 2 fat quarters and embellishments can be used if desired.    Over the course of a couple of weeks time was spent on Pinterest but nothing really "grabbed me" .  I did mention in a previous post my dilemma and Maria from Life on the Block came to my rescue with a link to a you-tube video for a drawstring bag using 2 fat quarters.     After checking out  the video my decision was made.    In my haste to make the bag I forgot to photograph my 2 fat quarters but did so after the fact.   Photo below shows what was left over and the ribbon embellishment.

And here is the result of that suggestion.

I love the way the lining peaks through the front and back of the bag.

It will be interesting to see what the other members of my quilting group did with their 2 fat quarters.

Watch out for the hand sanitiser......

When driving to the local shopping centre early one morning this week I along with other drivers were pulled over to the side of the road for a breathalyzer test.    When asked the question have you been drinking I could truthfully answer NO.    I was asked to count to 10 and  then informed by the officer that the machine could be picking up the alcohol in the handsanitiser that was sitting in the console alongside my seat.   I was then informed that I would have to blow into a tube until told to stop.

If there was still a reading I would have to sit for 15 mins and then be tested again.   At this stage I had visions of being pulled from my car and hauled off to the local police station for a blood test.   A vivid imagination does not pay at times.

After blowing into the tube I was told all good, off you go and have a good day.  Something to be aware of for the  future.......put the sanitiser in the glove box.

Back into the sewing room and the latest item to be ticked off the list is the glasses cases.

Next item on the "to do list"  is reading cushions and the heat packs are sewn but not filled with rice.  The aim is to tackle these this week.

A challenge has been issued by my quilt group - make any item using 2 fat quarters only.    Embellishments can be added if desired so much research has been happening but no decision as yet.  This needs to be addressed quickly as it is due in November.

I saw this pot of gorgeous orchids on one of my walks during the week.

FNwF

Thanks Cheryll for having us all "around" again last night.   I have been working on and off over the past week on sewing up 3 Christmas table toppers and 2 table runners and when joining in with FNwF the binding was completed on the table toppers.   They ended up being 16" x 16" which I thought was a good size for a smaller table.

And all  that was needed to be done on the runners that had been completed earlier on during the week was a quick press with a hot iron

So all 5 now reside in the stall/giftie box.  Another item ticked off the to do list.

Next on the list is a few reading glasses cases using these fabrics.

This audio book has been playing alongside me in the sewing room.

Don't forget to head on  over here to see what others achieved last night.

OMG for October

On checking my "to do list" for the Christmas Market I notice that there are still a few gaps to be filled.

With that in mind my goal for this month will be to get at least another 3 items ticked off.

So gathering up some Christmas fabrics

A start will be made on tablerunners and table toppers in order to help achieve this goal.  Thanks goes to Anne-Marie for taking over the running of OMG from Patty who has been running OMG for many years now.   A big thank you for keeping us on track each month.

My current read is

And the new book club book is

A few more beanies have been finished off over the past weeks.

There was a blue moon two nights ago and I had a fabulous view of it from the roof top terrace as it was rising.
