This Week in the Sewing room

Most of the week was spent on getting those pencil cases/pouches finished.    Putting the remainder  through the overlocker

Next came the making of the casings for the drawstrings which proved to be very fiddly.   I had to stop every few stitches to pull the back out and make sure it was not getting caught up as the opening was not very wide.     Only 3 left to go under the machine

All 32 are now sewn, turned and threaded with cord.

In keeping with my WOOFA challenge - which is to work my way through the scrap piles - a start was made on sewing up the pink squares that were cut earlier on in the month and true to form the bobbin ran out again without me noticing.   More WOOFA challenges can be seen  here at Cheryll's blog.

Fortunately it was just about at the end of the row.   I have in the past sewn for quite sometime without being aware that the bobbin was empty.    Very annoying having to re-sew virtually a whole seam.

Spring is in the air.   You only have to walk outside to smell the jasmine and wattle scents wafting around.  One of the many wattle trees that are coming out in flower around the area where I go for my daily walk.

Off to the sewing room to sew up more pink squares and work on my Fall blog hop item.

Back soon and in the meantime

Happy sewing all

Well done with the pencil bags, that turn down for the drawstring is super fiddly. I think we have all sewed happily away only to find the bobbin has emptied. 😁 it is nice to see spring happening.

Yay, you are heading into spring while we are heading into fall. I wish I were on your end instead - ha ha.
Who are the pencil holders for? Did I miss something?

Love it when the bobbin runs out. I wound about 12 of them before my retreat in early August and only just finished them.

Lol you are not alone when it comes to bobbins running out unnoticed. Sounds like the pencil holders were a very fiddly job. Well done. No sign of spring here yet.

Had to laugh as I just mentioned that whole empty bobbin but I'm still sewing thing on my blog! It is SO annoying! Have a great week, stay healthy and stitch on!

Yes it is fiddley to do the casting on the pencil cases so well done.
Lucky you were nearly at the end of the row when the bobbin run out.
Beautiful wattle blooms...

So annoying when that happens - one of my machines does tell me - but not my smaller one . . .and it's so easy to sew for "miles" without noticing.
It's a shame we can't have spring then autumn then spring...

Well done with those pencil cases, and I do love the wattle, there is such a variety of plants, and looks so pretty alongside the green of the paddocks

Great work on the pencil cases. I have a casing coming up and I keep putting it off lol! My new machine stops sewing when the bobbjn runs out which is good as it used to annoy me too with my oldie. Beautiful wattle x

Good job on the pencil cases. I’m looking forward to seeing what your pink squares become. Isn’t it wonderful seeing the gardens come to life.
