Challenged

The Challenge committee of my quilting group issued  all of us members with the same size piece of the same fabric and we were instructed to do whatever we wanted as long as the piece was used somewhere in the finished item.   I pinned mine up in front of my ironing board and everytime I was in my sewing room using the iron I was thinking what could I do with this piece of fabric.

As you can see we were not given a very large piece of fabric - I am not sure if this was a good or bad thing - so with that in mind I had ideas running around in my head and finally with the help of "Mr Google" I found a pattern for some coasters which I enlarged to make a couple of hotpads and I have to say that I am very pleased with the end result.    I used Insulbrite along with cotton wadding to give extra protection to the table when putting hot dishes on them.

I am looking forward to seeing what the other members have come up with using the same piece of fabric and in the meantime

  Happy sewing all

Lovely heat Pads Karen:) I have been in a couple of 'challenges' where we had a piece of 'ugly' fabric and had to use at least 70% in a project of our own choice. These challenges certainly keep the old brain ticking over!

I hope you'll show what everyone did. These look really nice, and they are definitely useful!
