FNSI

This month  I was sewing alongside all the other FNSI sewists as well as being in a room with 40 other quilters.   I was able to join in again with Eastwood Patchwork Quilters for their annual quilting retreat at Kurri Kurri and had a fabulous time as always with the group.     It is lovely to be able to just sit and sew then get up from whatever I was working on to wander to the dining room and enjoy all the lovely meals that had been prepared for us.   After each meal it was then back to the sewing room and pick up where I left off.     No table to clear or  kitchen to clean up afterwards - bliss.

The workroom all set up with our machines

My "space" for 3 days

So what did I do?     Firstly I sewed around some more of my "daily circles" which can be seen in front of my machine.     Then onto making an origami table mat which I had been wanting to make for sometime.     Almost ready to join up the last seam and sew on the buttons.      This is my project to finish off this week.

I then made a start on a quilt using a variation of the rail fence pattern.   Firstly joining up the squares

Then adding  the rails

And last photo shows the blocks that I managed  to construct all sewn together.

I am very pleased with the effect of the white "rails" and will continue using up my coloured squares and white rectangles until I have a decent size "snuggle quilt".

Thank you Wendy for giving us the opportunity to sit and create then be able to share our work with others.

Back soon and in the meantime
Happy sewing all

I really like your origami table mat. I have wanted to make it for ages... I haven't tried yet. Just wondering how big you made yours. Did you put wadding in the squares...
