Churn Dash SAL progress

I am pleased to report that the tabletopper and matching set of two placemats have now been quilted using a radiating diamond pattern.    How to quilt  the items was an issue until some research on you-tube solved the problem.

I only have a DSM and do not feel confident enough to do FMQ on something that I have spent ages on getting straight and lined up to the nth degree.  Having uneven stitches at times when going around curves or loops with FMQ drives me crazy so I just stick with my walking foot so I can be assured of even stitches throughout the quilting process.  As you all know I do not do anything by hand.

Don't forget to check out the progress of others in the SAL which can be done by heading over here and clicking on the various bloggers taking part.

Next step is the binding.

Orange Table Scraps

During the week those orange slabs that were sewn together at the beginning of the month have now been converted to bibs.

Hanging towels for my stall were made.

Just when I think that all items on my "to do list" are completed another idea for my stall pops up such as shopping totes.  One can never have enough of them.

I did think of another item this morning while enjoying a cup of coffee and the appropriate fabrics have been pulled ready to cut out and sew up.

While in the sewing room I was listening to another e-book.   I have read a lot of Di Morrissey's books over the years and enjoyed everyone of them.

Don't forget to head on over to the Joyful Quilter see more orange table scraps.

See You Later Alligator

A catchphrase said on parting.   While in this case I am not parting from anyone or to anywhere I can image when putting on this apron that I am travelling the world and staying in grand hotels from a bygone era.

Thank you Carla for organising another fun blog hop.    It is now time to pack your bags,  travel around to the following blogs and see where you end up.

Little dresses and FNSI

The countdown is on -  3 weeks to go until Spring Fair Day so the sewing room has been a hive of activity this week finishing off dresses that were cut out last week.     The decision was to make 6 of the same size - that being size 4  - as my experience is young girls love a twirly dress  that is easy to get on and off so my "go to pattern" that has been used many times over the years was used.   Here is the result.

Last night when joining in for FNSI these apple pot holders were finished off.

I finished reading this book during the week.    A good quick read set in Sydney and the Blue Mountains area in the late 1940's.    It was interesting reading the names such as George Street Sydney, the Strand  Arcade - my favourite arcade in Sydney  -  the Hydro Magestic Hotel at Blackheath and surrounding areas.

Thanks Wendy for getting us "altogether" again for a crafting night.

Reading Pillows

Have now been ticked off the "to do list" as of today.

I was asked if I was going to make dresses for young girls to which my reply was "No" but while going through the stash for the reading pillows some pretty fabrics were found which would be suitable for dresses.    They are now cut out and going through the overlocker in production line style.

My goal to have the "to do list" finished by the end of July has now passed and there is still another item to go that has been added.    If it gets done that will be good but will not lose any sleep over it if it does not happen.

While this sewing has been going on the next book to listen to has been "Where the Crawdads Sing".

I want to get to the end of this one as I have my suspicion as to "who dunnit" but feel there could be a twist at the end as there often is.

Time to head off and do a couple of domestics before enjoying a cup coffee.

FNwF

I was lucky enough to make an early start this morning in the sewing room for FNwF.   First up was the sandwiching,  pinning and marking out of a design on the churn dash tabletopper which I think will work well for quilting.    If this goes as planned the design will be used on the two placemats.

Next up was to be brave and pull out my limited supply of orange scraps  - not my favourite colour but it is the August RSC colour - and sew them into slabs for bibs.  Anything that had a touch of orange was thrown into the mix.

I will have to stop looking at Pinterest as the "to do list" for my stall increases.    The latest idea to be added to the list is some reading pillows and while in the sewing room today these fabrics were pulled.

Thank you Cheryll for getting us "all together" on the first Friday night of each month for another night of sewing and crafting.  You can see more FNwF projects here.

Two beanies were finished off during the week.

And another started.

That ball of wool will keep me going for a while.....I see red and navy, red and grey, red and black, red and cream beanies for months to come.

Next book in the pile to read is

This post is being put up tonight as I am rostered on the early shift tomorrow morning at the hospital auxiliary stall which is held on the first Saturday of every month.

In my last post I mentioned that I was having a problem with blogger - emails were being received that comments were made but the comments were no showing up on the blog itself.     A big thank you goes to Deb A who contacted me and gave me the answer on how to fix this current problem that was being experienced.   If anyone else is having this problem I am happy to pass on the information given to me to.
