Salt & Sand Blog Hop

Since signing up for this blog hop "circumstances of life" have changed around here at the moment and sewing time has been severely limited so instead of pulling out of the hop I decided to revisit a previous item made that I think will fit in perfectly with the theme.      I made a series of Sunbonnet Sue wallhangings to represent each month of the year for my granddaughter's bedroom a few years ago and the one for November  was called "Seaside Sue".    November is the month that we in Australia start to think about heading back to the beach as summer in only a month away.

Time to head on over to the following blogs to see more Salt and Sand.

7,8,9

Not much has been happening in the sewing room  over the past few weeks as hubs and I have made the decision to "downsize"  from our family home of 45 years to an apartment in an  over 55's village.    We have been thinking on and off of moving over the past 2 years and we finally took the plunge and put our house on the market after we saw what we hope will be easy independent living for us both.

So the past couple weeks has been us both culling, sorting and packing.     One seems to accumulate a "lot of stuff"  and when going through it you do have to ask yourself "why did I keep this?"    Many trips later to the tip and the Salvos  - with a few more to go - has seen a lot of it moved and the spare room is lined with packed boxes of things that we will not need - hopefully - before we move which should be in about 6 weeks time.

I have left my sewing machine unpacked for the moment and did manage in between packing boxes and signing contracts to get blocks 7, 8 and 9 of the HST quilt sewn together.

This only leaves 3 more blocks to go.

Thanks Wendy for hosting another fun FNSI.

Down one side.....

Flip and repeat on the opposite side.

That was the progress made in starting on the next 3 blocks for the HST sampler.

Next comes the job of separating,  pressing and trimming them up.

FNwF

This past week has seen me make some progress on the  HST sampler that I am working on.     When joining Cheryll and the others for FNwF I finished off block no 6.    This is what block numbers 4, 5 and 6 look like.

I am now officially at the half way point - 6 done and 6 to go.

Don't forget to check out here what others achieved last night.
