A rescue mission

When doing some domestic duties this morning I heard a rather loud thump sound outside and upon investigating  a small pretty bird  was found lying on its back on the patio outside the kitchen window.    I raced inside and put on the rubber gloves in order to pick it up and hopefully save the poor thing.

I was able to gently grab it and place it "right way up" in a quiet spot on the edge of the patio.

After about 10 -15 mins I checked on the patient and found that it had flown from the patio to a higher spot on the fence and from there it took off to safety - hopefully.     I have been able to ascertain that it is a kingfisher and by looking at it a young one.

Back soon and in the meantime

Happy sewing all

Great work on the rescue Karen... it probably gave itself a headache by flying straight onto the window... you gave it a safe place to gather strength again & fly away... what lovely colours he has!x
