Escape to the Southern Highlands

Is what hubs and I did for the past few days.   It takes just over 2 hours to drive from our house to one of the prettiest areas in the State.   Our timing was perfect in order to catch the changing of the autumn leaves which can be seen below.

The area has some lovely private gardens which are open for inspection at various times of the year.   We visited Red Cow Farm and spent sometime wandering around the 22 "garden rooms" throughout the property.   Every turn leads you into another area which is quite different each time.

And the last photo is for  Mary Poppin fans.   I have often visited the area but never knew that P L Travers - the creator and author of Mary Poppins books - lived in the area for a few years during her  childhood.   This statue can be found in one of the many parks in Bowral.

Hubs and I enjoyed our break away but all good things come to an end and so back to reality it is for us.
