Berry delicious

My favourite fruits would be strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries so it is no surprise that these items are on my weekly shopping list at the moment and top my cereal each morning along with yogurt and passionfruit.

There has been a run of lovely warm weather this last week which has allowed me to start off each day with a swim.

On my way back from the pool I walked past one of the "locals" lounging around

Some beanies were finished off

As were two more small quilts

And another pile of books to read my way through.

A list of items to sew for the hospital auxiliary stall next week and some Christmas gifts has been compiled and will be worked on during the coming days giving priority to the auxiliary items.

The Caylax

Today was one of those days that you just had to be out and about in the beautiful sunshine.    Waiting for the ferry to leave Manly wharf to head into the city.

I was lucky to get front row seats without anyone in front of me until we neared the City.

The purpose of my trip was to visit the Caylax in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

To see the current exhibition

Inside the Caylax

Time to have some morning tea,  find a seat to sit down and enjoy only to be joined by "a friend" who was eyeing off my piece of cake.  He did keep his distance and behaved himself.

Walking back to the City  via the Rose Garden.

Where some stunning roses could be seen.

No matter which direction you walk within the Gardens glimpses of the City can be seen from most areas.  One of the many statues and fountains that can be found throughout the Gardens.

Some sewing has happened this week.   My mother asked if I could make her some placemats for gifts.  The brief was 5 single placemats, each to be 12" x 18" using only feature fabric without borders.   The requested fabrics were  chocolate,  cheese, cats and two were to be wild birds.   Onto my favourite online fabric store - Find a Fabric - ordered the requested fabrics which arrived quite quickly.    Here is the result

Two small quilts were also finished off.

Now that the weather is warming up me thinks that it is time to try out the pool tomorrow.....maybe.

FNSI

My plans were washed out yesterday due to a wet day which proved to be the perfect day to spend in the sewing room and start FNSI early.   I had been working on and off on some apple shaped pot holders over the past couple of weeks so I took the opportunity to finish them off.

They are now all ready to go to the December hospital auxiliary stall.

I am happy to say that there were no unforeseen mishaps in the sewing room yesterday.    Time was spent sewing and not picking up spilled items off the floor as was the case earlier on in the week.

This week in the sewing room

A quick thank you gift was made for a friend who handed over a big bag of yarn to me.

I can see lots of beanies in the future from what she handed over so a start was made on casting on another 4.

A couple more small quilts were finished off

Thinking that I will just quickly pin something on the floor did not quite work out as planned.   I was side tracked, walked out of the room only to return pick up fabric off the floor forgetting that the pins were on the fabric.

After picking up all the pins it was time to return the cutting board to my sewing table and in the process knocked the thread rack off the table.

Once that was cleaned up it was time to walk out of the sewing room.

Finishing up bits and pieces and FNwF

The bibs that were cut out a couple of weeks ago are now finished, packed and ready to go to the November hospital auxiliary stall tomorrow morning.

Along with a few pot holders

Another small quilt was finished off.

Some reading matter

This month's book club book.

2 pom poms were all that was achieved when joining in with Cheryll and the other crafters for FNwF.
