A bit of this......

And a bit of that happened this week in the sewing room.    First up was one green potato chip block

Next on the list was 10 green library bags that had been cut out previously and just needed to be sewn up.

While that was happening this audiobook was playing alongside me

Hubs and I did go out for lunch during week and I enjoyed my meal of coconut prawn curry.

At present I am working on a couple of larger sized quilt that will be donated to one of the local hospitals for use over the top of  humidicribs to help keep the light off the babies.   The smaller sizes that I was previously making were  32" x 32" and the larger sized ones are 63" x 63" so quite a lot more cutting and sewing is required.  Again the measurements are not "quilter friendly" so a bit of experimenting with block sizes happened.  The first one uses 12 1/2" cut blocks which required a narrow border to be cut to make it up to 63"

The one below used 6" blocks - some rectangle blocks ended up in the mix - so a wider border of 4 1/2" was cut and now needs to be sewn on.   Both quilts are just tops are present.  Again it is just 2 layers required - no wadding needed in the middle.

That about wraps up my week in the sewing room.

Back soon and in the meantime

Happy sewing all

Lunch looks yummy. They are fairly large quilts, but it’s good to receive the correct dimensions before you start sewing. They r nice and cheerful.

Have you thought of 9" blocks if you don't want to add border? That being asked I like the serendipitous nature of the blocks with squares and rectangles. A great scrappy look.
