Pink, pink and more pink

Time in my sewing room has been limited over the last few weeks due to life's pressures but I made sure that time was found today after doing some gardening.   I am just going to share some photos of my spring garden with you first

Now onto what I worked on during FNSI.    First item to be finished was the pink twirly birthday dress for Miss M and then after much debating over the last couple of days it was decided to go with a button and loop closure for the front of the summer nighties.

Getting these three items finished was my nominated goal for September.

Next waiting patiently in line to be worked on is my checker board quilt.    It has been pinned and just sitting there looking at me as up until today I have been debating on how to quilt it.  Several times I thought that I had the answer until I thought about it a bit more.      It is now under the needle and a start has been made.

Thanks Wendy for hosting FNSI and to have a look at what else has been happening in other crafty homes tonight pop on over here.

Stunning is the word.......

That I would use to describe this year's annual spring flower show in David Jones Elizabeth Street store.    This event has been running for 33 years and something that I try to see most years.   It is the biggest flower show in the southern hemisphere and this year there are over 300,000 blooms on display.

A little sewing did happen today and I will be back soon to share what was achieved but in the meantime

All together now

During the week there was time to cut out nightie number 2 and make a start on sewing it up.   After doing what needed to be done yesterday morning I was able to get the bodices sewn to the skirts.

Then it was onto adjusting the gathers on the two tiers of the twirly dress and attaching them to the bodice.

What is left to do is hem all three garments, finish off the necks and armholes, insert a zip in the dress and work out how I am going to finish off the fronts of the nighties.     The pattern uses ribbons but I am hesitant to as I think that they will be forever coming undone so maybe buttons with loops.    Something to think about.

Before I head off pop on over to Gone Stitchin' to see what others achieved last night.

Mixing and Matching

While Miss M and I were looking through my stash for pink fabric to make her twirly dress we came across a couple of fq's and a metre of two pieces of fabric which were put aside for another time.

Yesterday I found sometime to have a play around with them and decided that by mixing and matching the fq's with the yardage  a couple of  summer waltz length nighties for Miss M  could be made.  I even got as far as cutting out and sewing up the bodice on one of them.

Completing the nighties and finishing off the twirly dress as well as moving the checker board top to a finish will be my goals for September.

Linking with Elm Street Quilts OMG for September.
