After making my first double oven mitt a couple of weeks ago I knew that second one would be in the making soon as the difference from the store bought ones is really noticeable. An extra piece of wadding is sewn in at both ends. This is my "secret weapon" when making the mitts.
I cut it smaller than the outside piece in order to reduce the bulk. The yellow line that you can see in the photo is the outside cutting line of the mitt. Once it is sewn in place I then place the fabric top and bottom and quilt all layers together. Picture below shows fabric all pinned and marked out ready to quilt.
And here is the finished product which was my nominated OMG for June.
It is now hanging on its hook in the kitchen giving us a nice splash of "sunshine".
Thanks Carla for organising another fun blog hop and you can see more "Sunshine" by hopping on over to the blogs listed below.

Great mitt, nice to have the sunshine inside.
Great idea Karen... & I agree "sun flowers" mean sunshine...
The double layer is a gOOd idea... so I'll borrow that one...lol
Enjoying this blog hop...xox

Nothing like a little sunshine to get rid of the wintertime blues. Like you I love playing with color, it helps me keep a sunny disposition even on the grayest of days. Thanks for sharing!
I have one of those mits around but I don’t care for the color so I don’t use it. Maybe I should make one in colors I do like and your description will help.
What a beautiful and useful project! I'm sure it's adding lots of sunshine to your kitchen.
lovely! and practical too.
Thats a nice looking pot holder, I've always liked that style, still haven't made myself one.. lol, but yours looks lovely in the sunflowers.
Pretty potholder! I like the sunflowers!
Love your oven mitt --- will have to try this one -- pretty colors
I think I like this oven mitt better. Has to be the yellow roses.
Perfect even for those winter sunshine days. Those oven mitts are the best.
They are so pretty. I haven't used double oven mitts but I'm going to make one and see if I like them.

That's a beautiful mit Karen! Thank you for sharing your secret weapon, great idea!
Great mitt. It's so hard to find a good mitt in the stores, they never fit right! Great idea to make your own, with extra batting.
That is cute fabric and makes a useful item much more fun! Love it!
It's perfect!! I never have enough pot holders!!

This looks really great Karen, and really super handy to boot. I love this bright sunshiney fabric which you've used.
Your oven cloth turned out so well. A nice bight splash of colour in this dull winter weather.
A great idea. I really must get some special wadding and finally get a pair of oven gloves that I like. x
I saw your first oven mitt a week or so ago. I thought then..”l need on of those”. Now you’ve made a second one. I need to get busy. My new microwave is at eye level..and I’m always afraid the dish or pan or tray will slip. I need one!! Thanks for the reminder. I may even have some sunflower fabric!
I love mitts like that. I'm from Kansas so of course I love sunflowers. I wish I had known about the Sunshine blog hop.
