Adult bibs

I was stopped by one of the residents where I live when going to check the mail earlier in the week and asked if I will have adult bibs for sale on my stall.    They were not on the "to do list" but they are now.  I did make two as  a special order a while ago so the pattern was pulled out, four have now been cut out and a start has been made on sewing them.

That pile of fabric scraps which was residing on my sewing table has finally been tamed.  It now looks like this

While  getting the mess into some sort of order a pile of green scraps were uncovered and were turned into the blocks for this months RSC.  Looking forward to seeing what colour is chosen for March.

This pile of bibs went AWOL a while ago and they were also uncovered - they only needed a good press and their snaps added.    Done

Button holes and buttons

My goal when joining in with FNSI was to finish off the hanging hand towels......buttonholes and buttons were needed to complete the task.  My machine does a "good" buttonhole and all 8 were completed within a very short space of time.

Buttons all handsewn on - this took longer than the buttonholes.   The machine will sew them on but I have not used this function.

I hope that all those who joined in with FNSI last night had a productive time.

Now to collect bits and pieces for a couple of sensory mats.

Coming up for air

Me, my machine and overlocker have been glued together for the past couple of weeks getting items sewn for my stall next month.  So far on the list to be ticked off

1.    Pot holders

 2.     Cross body bags

3.     Pretty hand towels

4.     Glasses cases and snap top bags

And last but not least bowl cosies

Next on the list to be completed are hanging hand towels which just need button holes and buttons to be sewn on.  Hopefully that job will be completed tomorrow.

I also have the idea of making a couple of sensory mats.   Watch this space for an update on that one.

Up, up and away and FNwF

A few weeks before Christmas during one of the severe summer storms which hit Sydney quite a few big branches on one of the gum trees near us came down and it was discovered that the tree was dying so it was deemed necessary to be removed which happened during the week.  Being such a large tree called for a crane to be brought in.  You can see the tree lopper high up in the tree in his orange gear.

The first cut was made and the crane went into action lifting the branch up and over the roof.

The job is almost done

The last cut was made and the huge truck is being lift up.

After all the excitment of watching the tree lopper and crane operator in action time to return to the sewing room and tooth fairy pillows were made.

When joining in with FNwF the cutting out of a couple of cross body bags happened.

I hate to admit it but the pile of stuff on my sewing table seems to be mounting up.  Somewhere in there are green strips waiting to be sewn together for this months RSC blocks.  Hopefully they will surface soon.

A bit of this and a bit of the other

What has been happening over the past couple of weeks other than the photo a day challenge.  Firstly some reading matters.  I always grab a pile of books when going to the library.   It does not take long to get through them.

Hubs and I celebrated Australia Day with a glass of bubbles.   As we were enjoying a toast to the Nation a couple of kookaburras were sitting in the gum tree nearby serenading  us.   Very fitting for Australia Day.

Some sewing has been happening.  A finish....a small quilt using up some fabric with Disney princesses on it.

A list has been made for my up and coming stall in March.  I can cross 1 item off - heat packs.   They have been completed as you saw in a previous post.

I have since added snap top bags to the list.

In keeping with the RSC colour for January two blue beanies have been knitted and one is still on the needles.

Now waiting to find out what the RSC colour for February is.

Photo a day 31

The last prompt for this challenge is "A fruit" .   Mangoes are still in season so that was my choice for today's photo.

That is the end of the "Photo a Day"  challenge which I have enjoyed taking part in.    It has made me  stop and look at things in a different way.

"Looking down"  was today's challenge.    I live on the second floor and usually use the stairs to walk up and down unless bringing up shopping.  When reaching the top of the stairs yesterday I looked back down the stairwell.

"A little chaos" is today's photo challenge and that was not hard to photograph.

This seems to be the constant state of my sewing table unless I make a concentrated effort to clean it up and do not have any projects on the go...which is hardly ever.

Today's prompt is "Today's Vibe".  I had to get a definition on this one which I found to be "the mood of a place, situation, person etc".   Today is not a good day for various reasons.

Today's challenge is "Something soft"  and there is nothing softer than my throw which sits on the arm of the lounge and is lovely to snuggle into on a chilly night or to help keep warm under the air conditioner if it gets too cold on a warm night.

FNSI

I had a message during the week from Management where we live asking if I would be interested in taking a stall in March when there will be an Open Day.   After a think and a quick stocktake of the few things that were leftover from another stall I felt that it was possible to sew what would be needed to have adequate stock to sell.   Babys' bibs are needed as well as bowl cosies, decorated handtowels, heat packs, cross body bags, tooth fairy pillows and seeing that it is reasonably close to Easter some Easter bunny treat bags will be added in as well.  A start was made today when joining in with FNSI after lunch on gathering fabrics for the baby bibs.   A total of 6 were cut out and pinned ready to sew.

Back soon with photos of the completed bibs and hopefully some cut out heat packs.

You can hop on over here to see more FNSI happenings.

Photo a day 14

Today's photo is "What made me smile" and that would be this plush toy that I purchased for Miss M who is going to have her tonsils out this week.   She loves anything Cinnamoroll and when this was spotted it brought a smile to my face and I hope that it brings one to her face as she recovers.

Something else that made me smile was to finish off sewing and deliver the bowl and plate cosies which were ordered last week.

FNwF

Firstly I have to share with you the jigsaw puzzle that I was given for Christmas which was completed earlier in the week.

It was a fun puzzle to do with some challenging shapes.   I have not done one in the "round" before and had to get used to holding the pieces at an angle when trying to fit them together.

I had an order come in during the week for 2 bowl cosies with matching dinner plate cosies.   The request was for red, grey, black or navy colours.  They were cut out last night when joining in with Cheryll and the other crafters taking part in FNwF.
