A New Bag

For the New Year is what I decided to make yesterday.     Being a grandma and taking  bub out -  we all know that involves taking out half the house as well as lots of other bits and pieces - so a big bag was called for with lots of pockets.    Out with the pen and paper to rough up the size etc, a quick rummage through the stash  and I found this fabric which I thought was perfect for the outside.

I always like to use light fabric for the interior of my bags as I find it so much easier to locate all those items that fall to the bottom on light fabric rather than dark.   I also put in a solid bottom which can be taken out of the sleeve for washing when needed.     I put a velcro strip on the inside of the large pocket for items that need securing.     Here is a photo of the interior.

I have packed my bag for grandma's day tomorrow with all the necessary bits and still have room to add in some shopping.

I also managed to finish off another one  of my themed table toppers.    This one is for January - a beach flavour.

I have a few more to go and will be back soon with some photos as I finish them off and in the meantime happy sewing all.

A very serviceable bag ... I like the light interior ... hunting through a black interior is painful!
Love the table topper, your quilting looks great.

How clever! Great idea for the pockets and I agree with making the inside lighter to see everything. Such a problem with most bags. Love the hexie mat too. Hope you enjoyed your grandma day.
