Orange you Glad

Orange is not my favourite colour but it is good to move out of one's comfort zone from time to time and give ourselves a surprise as to what can be done when put to the test.     I admit that I had to dig deep into the scrap baskets to find something with orange.

The fruit and vegetable fabric was a piece left over from a couple of bowl cosies that were made a few years ago and with the addition of orange borders there was  enough to make two placemats the same size as the blue ones that came out of the scrap bag challenge.    I made sure when making the placemats that they were a snug fit with the edge of the bench and the sink.   They were again made a bit longer than a normal placemat.

While I was at it and had just enough of the fruit and vegetable fabric left a set of four coasters was also made.    That just about wipes out my stash of orange fabric.

Thanks Carla for organising the blog hop.   Time to head on over and visit  the blogs listed below

Back soon and in the meantime

Happy sewing all

Those place mats look perfect... I don't have a lot of orange either but it is very cheerful isn't it...

Those are fun projects and great that you used up your stash. Generally, I like orange, but don't seem to sew with it very often. Hope you're having a nice week x

Such pretty fabrics that you chose to make the placemats out of and love the little coasters. A mug of java always needs a pretty coaster to rest upon. Thank you for sharing

Oh my, how refreshing to have someone admit to not especially liking 'orange'; we are joined together in that feeling. You did a fabulous job making things that used orange - do I have any orange in my stash...?

I love that you used vegetables instead of fruits!

Well, I'm "glad" you at least tried orange. I'm sorry you don't like it. Your projects are beautiful and look bright and happy. No one would know you didn't like orange, you did it proud. I'm glad you tried the hop - thanks for pushing yourself.

Neat placemats! I like the fabrics you used in the mats, and using the rest of the fruit fabric for coasters was a great idea!

So simple, and yet so beautiful. Congratulations on your new place mats. Put them on your table a stormy and rainy day, and be happy.

What a great idea for that narrow spot by your sink. It's not only beautiful but useful, too. That fabric was a great choice for this hop and a great find in your scraps. Thanks for sharing!

congrats on using up stash. Its amazing what we have hidden away and even more amazing that our group leaders keep pointing us in the right direction for using it. Your placemats are wonderful and the idea of wiping out the leftover fabric by making coasters is perfect.

You did a great job using up your orange. I love orange and rusts to wear and muddier versions to stitch. Wonderful how we are all different xx
