A smaller project this month

When I first saw the block known as "international sisters" over here at Fiona's blog  my interest was piqued which meant I had to follow through and find out more about them and how they are made.   More blog hopping brought me to the source that could help with my quest.

While watching with interest Fiona's blocks as they grew in number  I knew that I  had to join in the fun.  Just having finished my curved log cabin quilt I  did not want to start another quilt but am thinking along the lines of a tablerunner or tabletopper.   The wheels of motion are grinding away and a plan formulating.

After much deliberation  the fabrics have now been chosen.

I still need to pick a binding fabric but will wait until the end to see what goes with it.

Sydney has been ringed by bushfires over the past few days with smoke drifting down into the basin and just sitting there with no wind to move it.

Apparently we have another few days of the same conditions so my only choice was to head to the sewing room early and lock myself in away from all the smoke and make a start on one of the blocks.

Thanks Cheryll for  organising another FNwF.

My OMG for November will be hopefully have this one finished by the end of the month.

Selecting more fabric for another project which I hope to start in the near future.   More on that later.

Back soon and in the meantime

Happy sewing all

Lovely block; thanks for the link to the tutorial. I've been seeing these International ladies popping up everywhere this last summer, but this is the first time I've seen the tutorial. Good luck with the rest of the ladies.
I hope the wind changes direction soon, or perhaps dropping altogether would be more helpful to the firemen.

Do hope the smoke clears for you soon.

I love that block and the 'sister's' theme! I hope the smoke clears soon...that can't be good for anyone.

woohoo, more sisters starting. I kept forgetting to put the link to where I got the pattern (naughty me). They are a fun block aren't they. Horrible to have all the smoke around but a good escuse to hide and sew.... looking forward to seeing the new project grow...
